And so, the inside Gardens are mostly doing OK... Picked the last Lettuce out of AeroGarden 5
Now just waiting for a the Two 'Christmas Tree' Pepper plants I planted in that one
But the Micro Tomatoes didn't do so good in the Three Pod AeroGardens in the Kitchen
The 'Mighty Mini' Tomatoes Plants I tried in them first did OK... sort of, but the 'Micro-Tomatoes' are too tall
The Grow lights are at their Maximun height and the Tomato Plants are already taller than the lights
So I decided to clip the Tomato Plants and plant something else, seems that Herbs are the best choice for those small Gardens
First thing, I did clip those Tomato plants... now what? Just might go ahead and plant some Lettuce there
I have some Seeds and I think I can clip the Lettuce as it approaches the Lights... if and when
And then off to the Minit Mart, got my $20 worth of Lottos, won $25 back, then a stop at Walgreems
Another late Breakfast and then I thought I would take the Mercedes up to get an Inspection Appointment
Stopped in the Price Chopper first to trade in my $25 win for more Tickets... then next Door to the Shop
And the guy there said if I could leave it they would try to get it done later in the Day
That would leave me with the option of walking that Mile back home but I left it anyway
So then, first down the Hill, not bad at all, then up that next steep Hill... what you kidding!
Well I had to stop and rest but I made it, then down the next easy Hill... but the big steep hill was waiting
OK, I made that one too, and the rest of the way wasn't so bad at all but sure glad to see that last downhill to Home
And for all my efforts... I scratched off Two $5s and One $25 Win... $60 for the Day!
Nothing going on so I decided to run down to the Fast Stop to trade for more Lottos
This time I got back to scratch off another $25... Then back to the Minit Mart for more
Traded in my $25, got $20 more Tickets and this time I only won back $15... time to quit?
Well that was a $5, $5, $5, $5, $10, $10, $15, $20 and $25 Win... Lot of fun trying
Didn't keep track of the Math, don't think I made much if any Profit... but SOMEDAY!
And such a nice Day out there, took a walk out back... I saw some small Poblano Peppers
Still growing on the Plant I started indoors in the AeroGarden and set out later in the Tomato bed
For sure I'll keep an eye on those before Frost... And found a few more tiny Cucumbers
To small to use? HAH! I'll make Pickles out of them... Gherkins maybe?
Well then, that was pretty much the Pre-Halloween Day and I don't do Halloween Night
I wrapped up the Day with a big Burger on a Kaiser Roll with some more Cole Slaw and Chips
And then the usual finale, more TV and then off to bed to dream and dream some more
Ok then, a late Breakfast, more Biscuits and Sausage Gravy... I do like that stuff...
Then unpacked my Chicken, dusted it with BBQ Rub to wait for the Smoker when I got in the mood for that
And next... a minor chore, split, seed and rinse the Poblano Peppers to dice up in the Food Proccessor, then Freeze
So I cut the Stems off the Plants, loaded them into my Blazer and back down the Hill, dumped the Stems
I set the pots on the Porch for now, when it gets colder I plan to try overwintering them inside
Then I'll take them out back, dig big holes up on the Hill, dump the Pots and try planting the whole thing
Coasting on then to 2 p.m. ...After an hour in the Smoker, back out to flip the Chicken over to cook evenly
Then sipped away at my Margarita and then at 3:15 p.m. back out to bring in the Chicken
And what a Gorgeous sight to behold and then to enjoy that Aroma until time to tear into it!
And a peek at the Cucamelons, still climbing every Day, sometimes need a little help finding a grab
The Vines are tiny and very flexible, seems they would break so easily but I can get them a hold with no problem
So still so early, jumped in the Shower at 6 a.m. Get ready to go chase Lottos again
This time woth a Pocket full of money, Friday started the Day with $35 Cash in my Wallet
Saturday Morning... $140 Cash and a $15 Winner to trade in, get my first batch for only $5
So, off to the Price Chopper to trade my $15 Ticket for $20 more. won back only $10
Not good enough so I headed over to the Minit Mart, traded in my $10 win and $10 Cash for $20 More
And then only won back $5 of that, time to call it a Day while still ahead from Friday
Then thought up a Project for the Day, empty and move some Pots out front, most Veggies done anyway
Picked some nice Peppers off the Three Poblano Plants there, and a few Tomato nubbins from that Plant
Then Cut off the Plants and dumped them in the Trash, moved the Two Mexibell Pepper Pots onto the Porch
Next that big Pot with the Tomato, cut the Plant out and tossed it, then tried to move that heavy Pot
It was 11 a.m. then and time to take a break, that's heavy work for an old Geezer fer sure
So, resting up, I caught up my Blog this far and then thinking of heading back out...
Back out again for a half hour, that Pot was way heavier than it was when I moved it a couple years ago
I had added more Soil and the watering settled it and made it heavier, I decided to remove some of it
I had two empty smaller Pots and I filled them up, there was still about a third of the Soil left in the Pot
But this time I could move it across the Pebbles and put it in the Corner I wanted for the Winter
No Gardening iside either except to pop out the dying Tomato in Garden 4 and replace it with a pepper Seed
I did notice that one more Tomato plant popped up in Garden 4, don't think they will do much there
And, it was just another run around Day chasing Lottos Wins, and ended up with a profit for a change
I started the Day right at the Fast Stop, I won a $5, $10 and a nice $100 there
And then I went back to crow about it, got some more and then won a $5 and a $40 Ticket, really nice
Kind of like the Day before winning here and there going back for more, the Price Chopper and the Minit Mart too
For the Day I won a $3, $5, $5, $5, $5, $10, $15, $15, $40 and that top of $100, $183 in all and a nice Profit
I noticed Boss Bob's Truck in front of the Office, he stops in to help the new buyers of the Complex
And a little later I heard a Knock on my Door, he stopped in to catch up with me, seems to care how I am getting along
On through the nothing much but pleasant Day, thinking of what's for Dinner Early, well I thought of some Cole Slaw
Most everything I have been cooking lately would go well with some of that, so I headed back one more time to the Price Chopper
So I got a head of Cabbage, some Onions, Slaw Dressing, pack of Baloney on a good Sale, some Milk
And of course traded in the last $20 win of Tickets for another win of $15, loss of $5...
Time then for a Margarita, start on the Slaw and think of what else to go with that, so much to choose from
After the Slaw was prepared and in the Fridge, back to the TV for the rest of the Afternoon
Then Bratwurst on a Bun, Cole Slaw and un vaso de Vino Tinto, some more TV and off to bed
Well, what did I do around here before I got busy with all this Indoor Gardening started in September last year
Before then when the Outdoor gardens quit nothing inside except a few Pots with this or that
Now though, I am a little unhappy with the Three Pod Gardens, have to grow short stuff like Herbs
The Six Pod Garden is a little Better but still the Grow Light won't go up very far, the Seven Pods go up 24 Inches
On to the afternoon non-activities and later that Dinner, Sausage Stuffed Poblano Pepper with Salsa and Cheese
I had the Pepper in the Oven, had the Lettuce and Onion in a Bowl, Oil, Bacon, Vinegar and Sugar in the Pot
Toasted a slice of Rye Bread, buttered that, heated the Oil and Bacon to a Boil, then into the Lettuce
Stirred the Lettuce, then into a heated Bowl, the Stuffed Pepper, Lettuce and Bread on the Coffee Table
Then a Glass of Vino Tinto and on with the Movie and my Feast, and the end of anther semi-busy Day
So, what plans for the Day? The Lettuce in AeroGarden 5 needs to be trimmed or harvested
There are 3 or 4 empty Pods there now, thinking of putting the Pickling Pepper plants there next
They are larger so I would only Plant Two Plants, one in each end Pod
So the first Project for Tuesday, Harvest some Lettuce and plant a couple Pepper Plants in Aero 5 Garden
So, pack a couple empty Pods with Sphagnum, plant a few Seeds in each, put them in Pods in AeroGarden 5
Then Trim some Lettuce to make room for them when they Germinate
Next a peek at the Gardens in the Kitchen, not all going so well, those Micro Toms seem too big for the Gardens
One fell over in AeroGarden 1, tied it up, already at Grow Lamp maximum height too, needs more room
The one in AeroGarden 3, looks like one plant is dying, the other almost touching the Grow Light
Then I mixed a late Margarita, took out a Bratwurst to thaw, back to the TV with my Cocktail
then heated up Later heated u te Brat inthe Skillet, on with some Mustard and my own Dill Pickles, so Tater Chipson the side
Then back to the TV to finish out the Day with a glass of Vino Tinto and more old TV Shows
Oh what an exciting life I do lead, right, Herr Sigi Wulle? What to do on Monday then?
Well somehow I was thinking of the Bratwurst in my Freezer, how about smoking that? Took them out of the Freezer
Whoops, only three left, and no Buns... Off to the Price Chopper, got a 5 pack of Brats and a 6 pack of Brat Buns
Now just let them warm up to room temp amd then later when it warms up outside, into the Smoker
But before that, a late Breakfast of Biscuits and Sausage Gravy... Yumm, then what?
The Lettuce Seeds were popping and way too close together in those Kitchen Planters, I thinned one Planter
But one to go, that should be an interesting Project for a few Minutes... Yeah?
And so, off to seek my Fortune, must be out there somewhere and I did pretty good on Lottos for a change
I went to the Fast Stop Twice, the Minit Mart Twice and the Price Chopper last for a $30 Win
I won a $5, $15, and $50 Lotto at the Fast Stop, Two $15 at the Minit Mart and a $5, $10 and $15 at the Price Chopper
I am not all that good at Math but I think I made a profit of $45 for the Day
Back out at 3:45 to take the Brats out of the Smoker, a guy was working in the sump next to it
It was Victor from the Water Company, they were replacing all the Meters in the Complex with a new type
A real friendy guy, he said he was enjoying the Aroma of my Smoking all over the place that afternoon
I offered him a couple, he said thanks but he was OK... But as I was taking them out he said yeah he would like one
So I took them inside, then wrapped Two in Foil, then Paper Towels to keep them warm, took them back out
That's the Pack there on the end of the Smoker Shelf, I took a Photo, told him it would be on my Blog today
On to Dinner time, fired up my Deep Fryer for some French Fries, a big Brat on a Bun with Horseradish and Mustard
Back to the TV to enjoy the best Brat I have tried for a while, some 'Breaking Bad' and 'Bates Motel' reruns
And that wound up another pretty nice Day overall, yeah!
Off to another good Day living out my Dotage... well anyway... I think I am having fun
Well now, after all these years posting my 'Daily Drivel' as 'www.donlsmith.net/page'... my 'Page' is now 'www.donlsmith.net/blog'...
I think a lot of people (well maybe a few) on Facebook didn't realize it was a personal blog
So now I will just Upload it as /blog and still continue it as /page also, so I don't have to change all of the Page URLs
It turned out to be a nice Weather Day again on Saturday and I did find enough to keep me busy all morning
Now a peek at the Weather Forecast for the Week, says the next Ten Days will be in or above the 70s
That is hard to believe this late in October, I am betting we get a real cold Night before then
So what to do on Sunday, well that Video I started Editing, Four Santa Trek Videos into one Video
Worked on that for an Hour or Two, finished it, rendered the File and burned a Blu-ray DVD
Now it is a long, long Video to watch on my TV to see what errors I made and need to change
Taking a quick break, I chunked up and ground all those red Tomatoes on the Table with my Food Processor
Then into the Freezer with a second Container of diced Tomatoes to use in Salsa or whatever later
And 2 p.m. Time to mix that daily Margarita and see if I can watch all of that Video without getting bored
I have seen all Four separate Videos several times, I did do a little editing this time though
So at Cocktail time I watched my new DVD... and it wasn't as boring as I thought it might be
And everything looked good except the music was just a tad too loud in a couple places, I can fix that easy
So again not all that much doing on Sunday and nothing planned for Monday, but then I don't plan much anyway
I just get a nutty Idea and start off on another project of one kind of another... So what's for Monday?
A trip in warming Sun to the Price Chopper, needed some of this and some of that and picked up a few more things
I would see something on a nice Sale that I would need soon, so I had to take advantage of that
So far I have used my AT&T $200 Rewards card to buy all my Groceries this Month and I still have $54 left on it
And of course I got my Lottos, won $15 but that is stil a $5 loss, for the Day... (so far)
Back home I thought I should check out back, again not expecting much... But then quite a Green Pepper Harvest!
The Plants looked overloaded and were tilting over with the weight, so I relieved them of all the Peppers
So, looks like I will have grind and freeze them for later or make more Relish or Salsa... Which?
I did some of that, after awhile that got tedious so I adjourned to the TV with a Margarita
Later a Hot Dog with Chili and a Glass of Vino Tinto, a couple Movies and old TV Shows and finished out Saturday
I wanted to see if thay had any Solar Christmas Lights for my little Dwarf Spruce Trees for Christmas
They had a lot of Christmas Stuff on display and lots of Christmaa Lights but not what I wanted
So back to the Ranch and I checked onlne, found some that should do and ordered that
That will be delivered soon but no hurry yet, we have six weeks before they need to go out on the Trees
With that little activity over it was on to the long Afternoon and Evening and off to bed way too early again
Can we find something more interesting to do on Saturday?... Well let's see
Well those 'Mexican Hat' Seeds, how about an experiment with those? Plant them in Pots
So I got out a couple Seed Starter Pots, filled them with Potting Soil and brought them inside
Then those tiny, tiny Seeds, like Black Pepper flakes, the tiniest I ever tried to work with
So as carefully as I could, I worked them out of the tiny Envelope, trying to get some in the center of each Pot
Then I set the Pots into little Trays and then on the Shelf with the Micro Tomatoes in the Aerogardens
Now see how long and if it works out to start those little Flowers... They were Free, so no real loss if not
And Wonder of wonders, one final miniscule Eggplant, they sure didn't do anything this Year out back
Next Year I'll put them in Pots out Front, the few times I did that I got some good Harvests
Y ahora... hasta que nos volvamos...
A catch up Photo of the Cucamelon Vines on the way up... How high will they go? We shall see
Those little Vine grasping tendrils are about as fine as a hair, really tiny and look so fragile
And again I didn't find it, well you can't call a $15 Win any kind of Fortune, not even good luck
Then slowly on through a Boring Boring Day, just no Ideas what to do, and Cool and Cloudy to boot
Finally 2 p.m. decided to buzz up the Hill for the Snail Mail... Lookee there!... My Mini Pepper Seeds
Then a little Project to do, find a Pot and fill it up with Soil and then plant those Seeds
That was about it for the Gardening effort for the Day, on to start on something for Dinner, that big Pepper
I started on the Stuffing, thawed out two big Bratwursts, crumbled into the Skillet added chopped Onion, Garlic and Salsa
Then I carefully slit the big Pepper, opened enough to get out the Seeds, then stuffed all the filling in
Layed it on it's side in the Casserole, some Ketchup amd Parmesan on top and into the Oven
Next prepared the mashed Potatoes, all set then for Dinner later... Then my Margarita and TV session
Dinner Time... That big Pepper filledhalf the Platre, the other ghalf with thePotatoes, that was it
That Pepper was a really 'Big' Bertha, I could only eat half of it, but the other half will keep in the Fridge
And it was a really fine way to end that surprisingly warm late Summer Day
Checked all the Indoor Gardens first, Had to raise a few Grow lights, one large AeroGarden almost to the Top
Then a catch up Photo of the 'Pickling Pepper' Plant in the Kitchen and the Aerogardens with 'Micro-Tomato' Plants
The little Pepper Plant looks like a little Birdie about to take off
So I checked my Lotto List, where I keep track of my Winners, yeah, I went to the Price Chopper first
There I won a $5 Ticket and lost $15, not a good start for the Week, then to the Fast Stop for more
Traded in that $5 Winner, got $20 more Tickets, won $5 and lost $15, really no good start for my Winning Week
And running out of money faster this month than last, what's going on anyway?, well a couple extra bills
Checking my Bank against my Journal I keep instead of in my Check book, don't write many checks anymore...
It says online in my Bank that I have more Money than was shown in my Journal, what's going on?
So I checked the addition and subtraction of my Journal entries, all OK, then checked the Bank figures
Couldn't find any discrepancy there either, HUH? So I printed out the last two Monthly Statemens
Checked again every entry in my Journal... AHA! There it was, I had entered a $97 Payment twice
Hey Hey... all the Way! I have about five more Days of monsy for Lotto Losses than I thought I had!
Well that took quite a bit of time, on to the rest of the Day, that huge stack of Loser Lotto Tickets
Rion gave me quite a stack last time and I got behind entering them for Prize Points, got to that boring chore
So I started on that, spent quite a bit of time and got almost all of the Scratcher Tickets entered
But I still have a big pile of Draw Tickets and they are more of a pain to enter than the Scratcher Tickets
I'll put that off some more until I get really bored, then work on those, I have over 10,000 Points anyway
So that was about it for a far more boring than a usually busy Day, well every Day can't be an Adventure... Can it?
And then, a Breakfast of Biscuits and Sausage Gravy... Like me and Grandma used to make, yeah, I helped
Then headed out back for another check and this time another small Harvest, Seven more Tomatoes turning Color
They will ripen on the Table and as they do I'll use them for this and that or grind them up and freeze them
Well that was it until about Noon and on into the Afternoon, anything else exciting in store... HAH! You kidding?
Ok, then my Margarita, TV catch-up... Dinner under way, Smoked Chicken on a Bun, some creamy Corn from a new recipe
And, looking at that Aerogarden 4... Is that going to work? Why wait, decided to replant the whole thing
Took the Grow Bowl to the Sink, dumped the Water and the Plants, rinsed everything really well
Then restuffed the Seed Pods with more Spagnum Moss set them back in the grow Bowl, refilled with fresh Water and Nutrient
And then dropped 4 tiny seeds into each Pod, covered with a little more Moss, covered then with the 'Grow Domes'
And then back to the Living Room, set the Bowl back on the Base... And plugged in the Air Pump this time
Now all set, replanted, and we started all over again... Let's get some Micro Tomaters... HUH?
Back to the TV and un vaso de Vino Tinto... Until Dinner is served... Whenever that might be...
A quick peek at the Kitchen Planter Experiment, beginning to think this is just for Fun and not for Food
I plant a 'nub' of some Veggie, watch it start and then go nowhere much, like the first Lettuce I planted
It looked good for about a week or so and now it seems to be withering away... Oh well, like I said.. for fun
Then on to find something to get me through that Dreary, Cloudy and very boring Day... Needed something to do
First to the Price Chopper, all out of my favorite Carlo Rossi 'Paisano' Vino Tinto, have to have that
Then over to the Minit Mart for a no-go at Lotto Tickets... Added to the boredom... Back to water the Indoor Gardens
Next mixed up a Gallon of Miracle-Gro to feed the Plants in Pots and Planters, doled that out to the needy looking ones
OK, Something else to do, I had this huge stack of Loser Lottos that my friend Rion gave me... Needed to enter those
So I entered away, got quite a load of those tickets entered, got 9,755 Points again, still maybe 60 more Tickets to enter (later)
And a couple nights ago I was looking at some old Sanctuary Videos, needed a Case Label for one I watched
So back to the Computer to decide on a Photo and print one up, trim and stick it in the DVD Case... a very short Project
And also I had watched some of my Short Leaf Band Video, some of the Songs are way too long, decided to edit that
I got a good start, a couple songs edited and then got bored with that... Needed something interesting to do!
Well then it was almost 1:30 p.m. I could mix an early Margarita... and I did that... any Cooking Project to do?
Well I did dream up a little Cooking Project, just a modification of some Beans I had in the Freezer
I had a few leftover Enchiladas in the Freezer, thought I would dress them up a little with more Chili
So the Beans in the Pot to heat, then started to add stuff... some chopped Onion, out front to pick a couple of Poblanos
Chopped up the Poblanos and added them, them some Chili Powder, Cumin, a little Cilantro, it began to taste a bit like Chili
And it was ready to try for Dinner, plated an Enchilada, smothered it with the improvised Chili, yeah, that did perk up that Dish
Nothing the rest of the day to excite the World as if anything here ever does, just finished out a pleasant afternoon
Lots more evening TV and then too many Detailed Dreams overnight, I do far more in dreams than I do in the Daytime
Well let's get on with the new Day, maybe something interesting will happen for a change
Then I went in to check the front Room Plants, I wonder now how long that last setup will stay?
Seems I get ideas and keep changing things all around, well the Seasons change, so do my Plans
And the Cucamelons seem to like the new setup, grabbing on to the new 'Ladders' I made on Thursday
It was a misty dreary cool Morning Friday but not Cold anyway... Headed to the Price Chopper for a couple Items
I got my stuff, headed back to scratch only a $5 Ticket... Oh well... Still have a couple bucks in the Bank
Then some Breakfast, decided to enter a few more loser Tickets, that gets boring and I have a lot
Entering away and I entered a Ticket that said 'Not Recognized'... That means it is not a Loser or I entered wrong
Checked again, nope Numbers all OK... Checked the Ticket... The Code that says the Ticket is a winner not scratched
A hopeful sign, checked the Ticket, they hadn't scratched the back side 'Bonus'... I did... said a $50 Winner... Great!
So I took that back, cashed it in and got $20 more and only won back $15 that time, still a nice Profit
Was really another nothing much Day, just a little this and that and lots of boredom, but the time did slip away
I had those three little Cucumbers I picked on Thursday, and a few more in the Crisper Drawer in my Fridge
Looked like enough for another Pint of Pickles so I started in on that, I already had the Brine
Put the Brine in the Pot to heat to Boiling, sliced up the Cucumbers and some Onion, into the Brine
And then into the Pint Jar, just enough to just fill it to the top, now I have way too many Pickles
